Polaris-H Lets Users See Radiation

The Polaris-H detector hand-held radiation camera offers a less expensive, quicker methodology of checking for radiation in real time.
Modern radiation-detecting instrumentation is large, slow, and very pricy, and wishes to be cryogenically cooled. In distinction, the Polaris-detector, designed by a team from the University of Michigan, is supplied with a cadmium-zinc-tellurium, room-temperature electromagnetic wave detector. The light-weight detector is remarkably correct, and is ready to put a gamma-ray map over the image of a locality, permitting the user to ‘see’ the radiation and pinpoint the sources of leaks or hassle spots.

The device works in real time and, per H3D president William Kaye, will notice specific areas of radiation additionally as that areas have the foremost targeted amounts.
